I was born and educated in Uganda, East Africa. I studied medicine in United Kingdom and specialized in psychological medicine (psychiatry). After working in Scotland and England as a consultant psychiatrist, I moved to Canada in 1984 where I worked for Alberta mental health services, Edmonton and was affiliated with the University of Alberta department of Psychiatry as a clinical instructor (1986-89) and assistant clinical professor (1990-91). I have been in private practice, focusing on psychotherapy in Edmonton since 1988. From 2003 until 2011, I worked with individuals who were experiencing the painful consequences of severe and extreme trauma, arising from human conflict. I currently consults part time. I have devoted four decades to helping individuals overcome challenges caused by loss of mental or physical health and disruptions in social, spiritual, financial and relationship wellbeing. This journey has taught me among other things that we are all interconnected and interdependent and do benefit by sharing. At any given point in time we are dependent on so many – the bees that pollinated the plants that fed the cows that produced the milk that sustained the women and men that made the shoes we are wearing. We learn and grow from others and others grow from us; we support one another and we are supported by others.

The message that I share is a distillation of the knowledge, the skills and the insights that I gained and the growth that I had the privilege to experience throughout my life’s journey in Uganda, United Kingdom, Canada and overseas – the insights that have helped many of my patients and contacts.
